The Cumbrian Railways Association sponsors a YAHOO! email discussion group, crchat. Matters discussed include all aspects of the railways of Cumbria and around, past, present and future. With over 200 members the discussion can at times be quite lively, though always friendly. We are a pretty lively group often running over 250 messages a month on all manner of topics broadly related to our main theme of railways in and around Cumbria.

To access the YAHOO! website and find our more about the group click HERE.

Follow the instruction if you wish to join including a short sentence about your interest or involvement with the railways in the county. This is to avoid spammers joining the group. Your application will be approved within a day or two. Alternatively, E-MAIL a message to the chat group Moderator.

When originally set it up it was hoped that the group would encourage discussion between CRA members and encourage others to join the Association. In recent years it has become apparent that many are making use of the Group but not taking the hoped-for step of CRA membership. Consequently as of 1st April 2016 new participants in the Group must be members only.

No information about group members is kept other than on the crchat website at yahoogroups.

In addition to the general crachat email group a separate one has been set up to cater specifically to the needs of the modeller. Find out more HERE. On the site you will find copies of our latest publication, Modelling Cumbrian Railways. This is an occasional publication containing a variety of articles including: reviewing models, details of suitable kits and modifications, articles to assist the modeller, and a whole host of other bits as well.

When logging on for the first time please give as much information as possible about yourself and interests as it will help the moderator to approve your joining. On the site you can ask questions of fellow modellers or answer other's queries. Additional information is also held within the file and photgraphic archives. There may or may not be overlap between both sites, so it is adviseable to join both!
